TOE2 Background

Trust for Oxfordshire's Environment

From 1998 to 2010 the Trust for Oxfordshire's Environment (TOE) operated as a conduit for Landfill Communities Fund (LCF) monies in Oxfordshire, awarding over £5million to a total of 500 local projects.

During 2010 as a direct result of landfill volumes decreasing and various changes occurring within the LCF, TOE announced its closure. Over its 12 years of operation TOE built up a reputation for supporting high quality and effective projects and developed excellent networks across the County.

A new Trust for Oxfordshire's Environment

TOE's closure has come at a time when people's interest and involvement in the environment has never been greater, with literally hundreds of community initiatives across Oxfordshire. To harness this enthusiasm, the Oxfordshire Rural Community Council (ORCC), where TOE was based, has lead an initiative to set up a new TOE, with a clear vision for Oxfordshire's environment.  Grundon Waste Management was so enthused by the vision for this new organisaiton that they pledged their support from the start, committing landfill tax credits through the Landfill Communities Fund.

Initially called TOE2, this new organisation is a charity, a non-profit making company and an ENTRUST registered environmental body. Our aim is to drive and support the strategic direction of environmental change in Oxfordshire and to provide an effective and economical link between local donors and environmental initiatives throughout the County.

TOE2 will be both a grant seeking and a grant making organisation, working closely with other key environmental organisations in Oxfordshire to ensure that both national and county strategies are delivered at the community level.
