Third party funding...

Landfill Operators (LOs) can divert up to 6% of their Landfill Tax liability to Environmental Bodies (EBs); they can claim back 90% of this sum as a Tax Credit from HM Revenue and Customs (HMRC). Making payments to Environmental Bodies therefore costs Landfill Operators 10% of the total contribution.

Most LOs require this 10% to be reimbursed; applicants to TOE must find a Third Party Contributor (TPC) to make a payment of 10% of the gross value of the TOE grant to the funding LO.  Third party funding must come from an organisation which does not derive a unique benefit from the project and the money must not come from the Landfill Communiites Fund.  Please identify a source of third party funding before submitting your application to TOE.

Third party funding for a TOE grant of £10,000 is calculated as follows:

TOE award - £10,000

Plus 8% administration fee - £10,800

Plus 2.28% ENTRUST fee - £11,046.24

Third party funding payable - £1,104.62

The third party funder pays £1,104.62 to the contributing landfill operator, and TOE pays the project £10,000.
