Energy Efficiency and the use of Renewable Resources

Renewable resources are derived from natural processes that are replenished naturally. This includes solar, wind, ocean, hydropower, biomass, geothermal resources and bio-fuels and hydrogen derived from renewable resources.

What sort of energy efficiency and renewable resource projects will TOE2 support?

With increasing concern about climate change, there is a groundswell of interest in this area and there are already many active local groups in the county. TOE2 will promote existing imaginative and effective schemes and help to inspire more communities to get involved.

TOE2 will only support renewable resource projects that demonstrate there will be no detrimental effects on biodiversity, landscape or visual amenity, which have carried out an energy audit where relevant and which have sought impartial advice.

Examples of the types of projects that TOE2 might support

 1.  Make community buildings and facilities more energy efficient; TOE2 can provide grantsof up to £500  for community buildings wishing to carry out an energy audit.

 2.  Renewable energy projects for community facilities, where there are direct community benefits and  any profits go back to the community.  Energy saving measures should already be in place.

 3.  Production of wood fuel through managing local woods for biodiversity

 4.  Encourage the reduction, reuse and recycling of waste

 5.  Increase awareness of ways that communities can reduce their carbon footprint

 6.  Improving water efficiency

 7.  Encouraging and promoting more sustainable transport options

 8.  Local food production to enhance biodiversity and reduce food miles
