GUIDANCE FOR APPLICANTS
The TOE2 board meets four times a year to consider applications for funding; please contact us for dates of forthcoming meetings and deadlines for submitting applications. We are always happy to talk to people before they submit an application for funding, so we can be sure that your project will fit within our funding guidelines.
When preparing an application, please consider the following:
• Provide evidence of need and effective community consultation where relevant
• All projects are asked to seek best value; please provide copies of relevant quotes.
• Make sure that any relevant permissions are in place
• Consider the long term sustainability of your project. Who will be responsible for managing it in the future? How will the running costs be met?
• Consider the environmental benefits and implications of your project
• TOE2 rarely fully funds projects, so match funding will need to be in place.
• Please provide relevant supporting information such as photographs and site plans.
Securing third party funding
Any projects that are funded through the Landfill Communities Fund need to provide third party funding.
The Landfill Communities Fund receives its funds because Landfill operators (LOs) can divert a small percentage of their Landfill Tax liability to Environmental Bodies (EBs) such as TOE2. The LOs can only claim back 90% of this sum as a tax credit from HM Revenue and Customs. Making payments to Environmental Bodies therefore costs landfill operators 10% of the total contribution, unless they secure a third party contribution.
Applicants to TOE2 must therefore find a third party contributor to make a payment of 10% of the gross cost of the project to TOE2 to the relevant landfill operator. Third party contributors must not receive a unique benefit from the project and the funds must not come from the Landfill Communities Fund.
Please identify a potential source of third party funding before submitting an application to TOE2; further advice is available from 01865 883488.
